If you give up eating foods containing animal fat, and try as much as possible to eat vegan and organic, all of a sudden, nothing in your regular diet is advertised anywhere. You have to go looking for it (and information about it) on your own. Sure there are print ads in magazines catering to vegetarians, and they have marketing departments, but in general, no. As far as the grand world of marketing food to Amercian Consumers, you've just moved off the grid.
Maybe I don't watch enough of the right television any more, but I don't see much advertising any more on TV for things like milk and bread. Wonderbread ads used to be a mainstay, and locally at least, we had ads on all the time for Swiss Valley Farms Dairy, with this incredibly hot nordic girl made up to look like the cartoon girl on the milk carton.
The only food ads I seem to see are for fast food joints, national 'fine' dining chains, soda pop, and heavily processed and packaged foods. What's more, EVERY food I see advertised is arguably bad for you in some way.
