In one of those fits of Sunday AM sloth, I watched a show about Lisa Marie Presley on VH1. I came away with two conclusions 1) She's pretty entertaining and unpretentious in an interview 2) She is a good singer and as a songwriter, has a great pop ear 3) She or whoever does her song arrangements is really fucking good. It's commercial pop, but there's no cheese - all of her songs sound like you could bang them out live with a band to good effect.
So I downloaded the album and it's surprisingly good. She sounds a little like Liz Phair, and at times like Toni Halliday. Moody, dark pop. I was bugging LK about it on AIM today and figured I should get it out of my system here.
Anyway I may break down and buy the CD, because the MP3s sound really grainy and overly bright.
