Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein.

As it happened I was parked in front of the tube when the missiles and bombs started hitting Iraq. Melissa was on the other couch. I got up to get coffee and she said "what are you smiling at?" and I said "I don't know, I'm amazed at how much I'm into this." Which is the truth -- Bhagdad blowing up was the money shot, and I was a sucker for it.

I'm against this war, in case anyone didn't get that. The day before, they'd hit one of Saddam's houses, and CNN had a reporter in the hospital shooting video of the women and children who had been injured by shrapnel. That was something they only showed once and never mentioned again. They have said zero about civilian casualties, and spent a lot of time interviewing lantern-jawed white boys in NBC suits. Yet to see them interview any blacks, or hispanics or asians etc.

A few things keep coming to mind in all this: 1) The US helped make Saddam Hussein into the villian he is today. 2) Lots of real people are getting hurt. 3) We're paying big bucks for this, money that is needed for any number of things more important.

This is all so unnecessary and poisonous that it beggars description.
