Good Ol Walt Whitman

For many years now, I have been wishing we could resurrect Mark Twain and have him writing OpEd pieces weekly about the sad state of the union. The closest we've got is Molly Ivins and ... well she's no Mark Twain, and it's not just the lack of a mustache.

Walt Whitman had some words I find apropos currently, though I'd address it at all of us down to the individual:

To the States or any one of them, or any city of the States, Resist
much, obey little,
Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved,
Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city of this earth, ever
afterward resumes its liberty.
