Senior Moments

A Senior Moment is, to elderly people, those times when, due to lapses of memory or attention, they do something silly. My older relations were the first I've heard use this expression. It is rare for a new usage to come from the elderly, as slang almost always starts with young people and then percolates into the mainstream.

Even weirder, there is now a product that supposedly enhances memory in the elderly that uses the name Senior Moment(tm):

It seems odd to me to name a product for the condition it is meant to alleviate.

hello. i read your livejournal a lot ... good stuff ... would you mind if i
named my band, "chaircrusher"? it has a certain ring to it.

I really did get this e-mail. I asked him not to use the name because for better or worse, it's my brand identity. Frankly I don't know why anyone would voluntarily use it for any reason. It kind of bugs me, but I'm stuck with it. Not to bag on 'someguy' -- after all, precious few people have ever complemented me on my LJ. Well 2 have, actually. Versus the dozen or so friends who always seem to find something in each post to tease me about.

And no, I'm not fishing for praise here.
