(no subject)

I was the only person at home tonight -- Melissa at her store, at which Halloween is the peak sales season -- i think she'll net out more in sep/oct than I'll make this whole year -- Lucas with his buds at the football game -- he doesn't ever mention who wins or loses, but it's the place to hang and talk to kids 30 yards from you on a cell phone.

But it's my first halloween passing out candy with two dogs. Marge, the australian shepherd and Emma the runty American Eskimo Dog. Every time the bell rang the both had a shit fit, barking loud enough to make my ears ring. I don't think Halloween is what it was when I was young. Maybe I'm projecting through a veil of nostalgia but I remember trick or treating for MILES, and going home with a pillowcase packed full of crap. And I remember going out alone, even when I was 8 or 9. Now kids go with their parents, and their coverage is weak -- they go around their block, and over to the next one if they're older. I bet I only saw 20 kids.

One of those things, like climate change, I can mourn as I slide into old age.

Later on, I'm going to a halloween party at a former beer warehouse. All my friends are DJing. Interesting to see how that goes! It would rule for there to be a warehouse spot for shows around here...
