I'm a liberal. I'm one of those liberals the Republicans love to hate. I'm one of those people who John Ashcroft thinks is on the side of the terrorists. BUT ...
A Caribbean Cruise with Ann Richards and Sidney Blumenthal? WTF?
I've got nothing against people going on cruises. They look like fun to me, even after reading A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again. But the idea of eating, drinking, and dancing the night away with a bunch of self-proclaimed liberals for a week makes me want to retch.
There is political speech that aims to persuade, and there's political speech whose purpose is group cohesion. In other words "preaching to the choir," or "one giant circle jerk." I've had just about all I can take of the latter, and I wish all those people would stop jabbering and find something useful to do, like build houses for poor people with Jimmy Carter.
