change in diet update

It's been a week since I stopped eating anything containing animal fat. I know I've lost a little weight, but I need to lose the weight of a good-sized 3rd grader, so I'm only at the beginning of that process.

When it comes to food, I've never had much in the way of willpower, so I'm at a loss to explain this change. I guess everyone has a Saul-On-The-Road-To-Damascus moment every now and then and this was one of mine. Even weirder, I have days where I see how little I can eat. That used to be kind of a problem, because I would get hypoglycemic episodes before if I went without eating too long. Maybe now that my diet is skewed towards eating more complex carbohydrates I'm able to smooth over not eating a little better. I also don't really feel hungry unless I go a long time, like 7AM to 6PM, without food.

I've explored a lot of variations on the theme of 'stir fry a whole bunch of fresh vegetables.' Last night was Zucchini and Eggplant, with some Tikka Masala and Curry Powder. And garlic, of course. I'm a habitual garlic user, and probably account for 10 or 15 large cloves a week by myself. It's supposed to be good for you. I've found too that I feel the best when I stay away from dairy and all dead animals. Maybe I'll hit a wall where I'm not getting enough protein, but there's some controversy about how much animal protein is 'enough.' If I have a couple eggs and some yoghurt I'll be covered.

It sure seems now like there's a lot more cheese in the fridge, since I'm not hoovering it down. And a plate of cookies seems to last a lot longer if I'm not grabbing one every trip through the kitchen.
