President Cartman

I haven't posted anything about Dear Leader Bush for a long time, mostly because there's not much left to say that hasn't been said before.

But in a week that includes Bush Chest-bumping with an Air Force Academy graduate, Scott Mclellan calling him a liar, you might be so fatigued that you'd miss the reports of Ricardo Sanchez' new book. The money quote:

"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."

At this point if we had anyone else in Bush's seat -- even Cheney! -- the prestige and soft power of the United States would increase. At this point there are no political leaders in the world with any respect at all for Bush. Cheney is scary at least. Bush is just the most egregious, destructive demonstration of the concept of failing upwards. At summit meetings, when he shows up, all the other Presidents and PMs whisper "here comes Retard Boy. Let's see if we can get him to do his monkey dance!"
