|Let's go pop
||[Apr. 13th, 2007|03:22 pm]
So, I'm DJing at my brother Ian's 40th Birthday party and want to amass some tracks that will work for people who aren't conditioned to enjoy 4 hours of oontz oontz music. So given that he's turning 40, and is a pop music head, I'm thinking about which pop songs work for dancing, and tilting 80s-ish....|
New Order "Blue Monday" "True Faith"
Depeche Mode "Enjoy The Silence"
Evelyn King "Get Loose"
Stooges "I wanna be your dog"
Fine Young Cannibals "Drives Me Crazy" (I have the 12 with the Dub mix which is all the awesome and none of the cringe)
Prince "Rasberry Beret" (I have a 12" with dance mixes)
Magazine 60 "Don Quixote"
Steve Silk Hurley "Chain Of Fools" (yes the Aretha song, done up as a bumping house anthem)
XTC -- some tracks, not sure which*
Anita Ward "Ring My Bell"
Patrice Rushen "Haven't You Heard"
George Kranz "Din Dada"
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam "Spanish Fly"
Any of your suggestions welcome
*XTC is problematic because the tracks I think of as danceable (Down In the Cockpit, Melt The Guns) are done at really fast tempos.
agrd more prince. some yaz (situation, didn't i bring your love down, maybe the situation with tom jones). "what's on your mind" maybe. how about billie jean, or is michael jackson taboo now?
agree with yaz and billie jean. kent, i will upload a bunch of jams to cornwarning in a folder. ive got tons and tons and tons of stuff that could be appropriate, ill put out the best ones and you can let me know which stuff you think will work and which wont and then i can break you off some more!
