This was me screwing around with the Analog, Operator and Tension synths in Ableton Live. It's an example of 'automatic writing' -- I didn't put a lot of conscious thought into what I was composing -- just kind of went with whatever I clicked into the piano roll, editing a note here and there if it was jarring to the ear. With the exception of some EQ and compression, it's all Ableton Live instruments and Live factory kits.
It's also an example of the 'one damn thing after another' musical form -- I just kept copying down scenes in Live and then replacing clips with new stuff. It would be more traditional to return to themes at the end that I started out with but fuck it, it hangs together as is.
I also started out with a 909 drum rack patch so it's a bait and switch operation -- it starts out sounding like it's going to be a techno track and then veers off. Maybe it sucks, but it is the first thing I've done with the Live Suite instruments, and the first thing in 2009...
