The Dean Scream [Jan. 20th, 2004|11:11 am]
Okrzyki, przyjaciel!
I guess Dean's wacky scream at the end of his Iowa Caucus speech has captured the imagination of the conservative press (see the NY Post) but it's more bullshit character assassination. Frankly, if you've seen him in person, there's something so normal and human about his reactions. He does these awkward punching-the-air gestures that make him look like he wants to rock and roll, but deep down he's a dork. I find it endearing about him.

Two things I liked about his victory? concession? speech: 1) He sounds like Randy "Macho Man" Savage. 2) That weird scream. Could it be the new Wilhelm?

It was an absolutely awful "speech". Reciting the 50 states in the vein of Rainman and not addressing the issues as Kerry and Edwards did, made him look bad.

It's hardly character assasination. All three major cable news networks agreed that it was an awful speech with the exception of one FoxNews reporter that described the speech as "electrifying". Yeah, whatever...

He did make and awful speech and I've never been particularly fond of the guy, but you must admit that the press have been having a field day broadcasting every negative Dean story they can get their hands on for the past several weeks. If not those stories, then they've been running a lot of "is this the end of Dean?" stories, which have a negative effect on their own.

I was neither here nor there on Dean, but that speech clinched it for me. No way. Anyone that plays up his Hitler-esque public speaking mannerisms in front of that many people is not Presidential timber IMO.

That was pretty cool. It was so WWE.

In other news, I received my confirmation of eligibility for internet voting in the Michigan caucus. I'll probably blog about it later.

I like Dean because he's the craziest fuck we've had making a serious run for the presidency since Perot. I'm not voting for the guy, but it sure is entertaining to watch him get flustered.
